IRRIGATION DESIGNSOFTWARE

Westmark Enterprises has introduced itsirrigation-design software package, market-ed under the name of SIP (Sprinkler Irri-gation Program). This program implementsthe layout and design of sprinkler systemsfor residential and commercial properties.

SIP promises to design a system, do apressure-loss calculation, a parts takeoff,and print the design in a fraction of the timenormally required.

It requires no aodttlonal software orspecialized hardware to run. All that's re-quired is an IBM computer or compatiblewith graphics capabilities, a dot-matrix printerwith graphics and DOS 2.1 or greater.

The program is user-friendly, meaning it'seasy to learn and easy to use. It is recom-

mended as a valuable tool for irrigation con-tractors, landscape architects, and anyoneelse with a basic knowledge of sprinkler-system design.

Among its features are: automatic place-ment of spray heads or rotors, using anyman ufactu rerls specifications; automaticsectioning of the heads; automatic pressure-loss calculations taken from built-in tablesthat you can customize; and automatic partstakeoff that includes the number of feet ofeach size pipe.

NATURAL FUNGICIDEBacteria contained in a fertilizer and soil

conditioner called Lawn Restore have theability to control necrotic ring spot and otherpatch diseases of turf. The bacteria producenatural compounds that effectively eliminatethe fungi attacking turf, according to recentstudies at Michigan State University (MSU),E. Lansing, MI.

The natural fungicide has been test mar-keted in six midwestern states for more thantwo years. Ringer Corporation, manufac-turer of the product, began marketing it ona national basis in March.
