Southeast Kentucky Publishing is looking for a full-time Press Operator to assist with daily production on our Goss Com-munity press. The work includes pre-paring the press for production, operat-ing the press or any of its components, cleaning the press and the pressroom,

maintaining the me-chanical readiness of the press, and other duties as as-signed. Every mem-ber of the press-room staff constant-ly strives to achieve the following goals, and the contribution of every press oper-ator is necessary for success:

* Optimum quality of printed products.* Observance of all scheduled start and stop times.* Conservation of material resources, especially news-print.* A clean and safe working environ-ment.

Requirements:This position re-quires a high school education or equiva-lent, 3-year mini-mum of printing ex-perience or a Jour-neyman certifica-tion. Experience in web offset printing is desirable, although production experi-ence of any kind may be helpful. Me-chanical ability and familiarity with com-puters is preferred. Candidates should have the ability to adapt to change, prioritize work, han-dle multiple tasks, remain flexible and interact with people while demonstrating patience. You must be able to lift/carry up to 100 pounds. Must be able to push/pull up to 2,000 pounds. A press operator spends most work-ing hours on his/her feet. In addition to long periods of standing, a press operator is required to climb stairs. Op-erators engaged in press maintenance

and some cleaning activities will be re-quired to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. They often work in confined areas. Color vision is required.

This position is full-time shift work, which may include scheduled nights, weekends, and holi-days.
