Surrey County Show 2019Theme A Feeling of Wellbeing

A Written Piece A piece of prose of no more than 100 words (excluding title) entitled "It made me Laugh". Your piece should be printed on a sheet of A4 white card of 120 - 170 gms, with the number of words included at the end. Please write your name and WI on the reverse.

Photograph

A photograph of wildlife. (No household pets allowed). Your photograph should be 17.5cm X 12.5cm (7" X 5") , Displayed in a mount no larger than 20.3cm X 15.2 cm (8" X 6"). Please include name and WI on the reverse.

Preserve A 1lb (545gm) Jar of Mustard Pickle or

Piccalilli It should be in a plain jar sealed with a new plain lid and labelled with the ingredients and date made. A small label with your name and WI should be fixed to the base.

Cake A pastry based tray bake. 3 pieces, each 5cm square to be displayed on a plate. A copy of the recipe to be included.

Mosaic

A mosaic in any medium that will fit in to a 30cm cube. The space between pieces need not be "grouted". (A mosaic is an art form using small pieces of material placed together to create a unified whole).

Greeting Card

A greetings card decorated with pressed flowers and foliage.

The card should be blank inside and no embellishments are allowed. Maximum size A5.

A Fidget Quilt or Blanket

A lap fidget blanket or quilt for a person with Dementia, made from fabric or yarn.The finished item should not exceed 15 ins. square.Embellishments may be use, but should be firmly attached.

No entries will be accepted after these dates.

The Surrey Federation of WI's cannot be responsible for any items on display at the Surrey County Show and would suggest that any valuable items be adequately insured by the exhibitor.

All entries must have been made within the previous 12 months.

WI rules apply to all exhibitors. All finishing, presentation, marking and guidance can be found in the handbook "On With The Show" (OWTS 2015) available from your secretary or online in the NFWI Moodle.

Welcome to the 2019 Surrey Show schedule from the Surrey Federation of WI's. Your exhibits should be inspired by "A Feeling of Wellbeing".

We have chosen a variety of activities to include baking and preserves, crafts, photography and writing prose.

Judging will take place at Surrey Federation headquarters after the relevant closing dates; please see the notes and rules section for further information.

Winners will be informed if they have been awarded 1st, 2nd or 3rd places after the show.

Mark cards and certificates for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be posted from Surrey Federation Headquarters. If you attend the Show, your entry and certificate can be collected in person after 5.00pm (no later than 6.00pm). No exhibit may be removed before 5.00pm on the day of the Show.

Items that are not collected on the day will be returned to Surrey Federation headquarters for your collection by arrangement. However perishable items, cakes, will be disposed of as they will have been on display in a very warm environment and would be a health risk.
