Supplement of the month One of our Nutritional Therapists, Lucy Bishop, tells us a bit about the importance of Selenium.

This newsletter's Therapist in the Spotlight is Sally Duncan, our Psychosexual & Relationship Therapist.

What is Psychosexual Therapy?

Psychosexual therapy helps individuals or couples to address their concerns or difficulties within a sexual relationship. Some people are able to deal with such problems themselves but for others, where distress or unhappiness persists, therapy can help.Psychosexual therapists are qualified counsellors who have undergone additional specialist training. The main point of the therapy is to offer a safe and non judgmental place and regular time to talk about improving a sexual relationship.

What is it for/how can it benefit people?

 A Psychosexual Therapist will:

listen to you describe your problems; and assess whether the cause is likely to be psychological, physical or a combination of the two; and make suggestions and agree a tailor-made therapeutic programme, including some homework to

help change your relationship for the better.

In subsequent meetings the therapist will ask you how you have got on since your last meeting and help you to make more progress. The focus is generally on sexual or relationship issues, but these may be linked with what is going on in the rest of your life – stress, problems at work, financial, family or physical difficulties – and it is also fine to talk about all these issues.

Why did you decide to become a Psychosexual Therapist?

During my years at Relate as a Relationship Counsellor, many of the presenting issues involved sexual factors. I therefore felt that further training and specialism in this field would help more people to arrive at a solution that was appropriate for them.

Where did you train?

I joined the Relate organization, firstly to train in Marital & Couple Counselling and subsequently studying a post-graduate qualification in Psychosexual Therapy.I am an Accredited Member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) and a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP).COSRT accredited therapists have met rigorous standards and are licensed every year.I was in practice with Relate for a total of thirteen years and have since been in private practice since 2011.

Do you have a top relationship tip you can share?

Tell your partner often the ending to this sentence: “What I appreciate about our relationship is……..”

If you would like to make an appointment with Sally or have a 15 minute chat with her about Psychosexual therapy to see if she may be able to help you, please call her directly on 07854 424 607 or email: [email protected]

We offer gift vouchers for treatments at the Traditional Acupuncture Centre. To celebrate a birthday, anniversary or just as a treat for that

special person, why not consider a voucher as gift?

Want to lose those extra holiday pounds, beat the bloat or finally address that ongoing health niggle? Nutritional Therapist, Lucy Bishop is offering free Diet and Health Assessments here at the Traditional Acupuncture Centre to help you reassess your diet & lifestyle. Far from being 'food police-ing', the success of our Nutritional Therapist's approach is in creating personalised dietary plans that fit with your tastes, budget & lifestyle. So whether you're too busy to cook often, low in motivation or completely confused about what to eat & when, Lucy will provide solutions & encourage you each step of the way. Lucy says: “As a serious 'foodie' myself, I really don't advocate any diets or eating plans that make people hungry or miserable! Food plays a key part of our social lives & emotional well-being, as well as physical health, so I create personalised recommendations that are enjoyable to implement - delicious as well as nutritious! The great thing is we see dramatic results in people's weight, energy levels & general health, including long term health conditions. It's the joy of my job, it's so rewarding to see.” So if you want to eat out with friends & have treats, whilst also discovering the secrets to achieving your weight & health goals then a free diet & health assessment is just the place to start! To find out more, take a look at Lucy’s website: http://www.thenutritionaltherapist.com/nutritional-therapy

My name is Sarah Bradshaw and I have been working from the TAC for almost 2 years as an Acupuncturist and Reiki Practitioner. I have been in practice for almost 14 years, allowing me to gain experience treating a wide range of conditions. Whilst I am qualified to treat a broad range of conditions, a key area of interest for me is fertility, pregnancy and birth, consequently I am a Zita West affiliated acupuncturist.

When not at work, I’m at home with my husband and daughter. I’m very lucky to live in a rural location and love the outdoors. I try to spend as much time outdoors as possible, even in the winter which is easy to do with two dogs, three horses and numerous chickens (featured in the pictures).

My dogs, Staffordshire Bull Terriers Pippy and Nelson, are both rescues. This loving breed is often given a bad press and is the most prolific breed in rescue centres. As apassionate Staffie owner I do what I can to help the breed by fostering, volunteering and cross-posting dogs needing homes.

To find out more about my Sarah, you can view her Practitioner Profile on the pages of the Traditional Acupuncture Centre: http://www.trad-ac.co.uk/sarah-bradshaw/ or have a look at her website:http://www.acupuncturetraditional.co.uk/You are welcome to contact Sarah directly by email or phone for a free 15 minute consultation.
