¨“Today’s investigation proved very interesting. I think I’ve found my 1st suspect and its ____________. I’m very suspicious of this person because…. (then list all reasons you believe this person/thing to be possibly responsible for the Civil War).” Another person who could possibly be charged for this crime is ___________________________. If it weren’t for ____________________, then ________________ would not have happened. Etc……
PROJECT OBJECTIVES: To create a Powerpoint “Investigation” of the Civil War that shows understanding of ALL the possible causes of the American Civil War
TENTATIVE DUE DATE: May 6th, 2011
Instructions:Over the next couple of weeks, we will be studying how the American Civil War began, resulting in the deaths of over 620,000 Americans. For this project, you will treat the Civil War as a CRIME SCENE, where you are the PRIMARY INVESTIGATOR. Every day, you will learn of new possible SUSPECTS that may or may not be responsible for causing the Civil War and write a diary of your investigation. You will then, at the end of the unit, decide who or what you believe to be most responsible for the Civil War and recommend to a jury who or what you feel should be charged for the crime of murder.
To write your daily diaries of your investigation, you will have to consider the following questions:
1. What people, things, or events could possibly be considered a suspect?
2. What “evidence” did you learn of today to support your investigation?
3. As a cop leading the investigation, what was your day like? The FINAL Powerpoint, when dropped off, will include:
a. Photographic Evidence of the Crime Sceneb. 5-6 Slides w/ Photos of Suspects and Diaries of your
Investigation (Revised Hypothesis)c. Final Persuasive Letter to the Grand Jury via Hyperlink
