Chaplain Candidates
WantedWe would like to extend the application period for interested parties who may want to be a chaplain candidate. Our current Chaplain, Linda Cherry, is relocating to Virginia. We have received a couple letters of interest, but heard that there may be others interested as well. We wanted to be fair and extend the deadline to allow those folks to apply. The chaplain position performs ceremonies for Coming of Age, Adoption, Marriages, Commitment Ceremonies and Celebrations of Life. Training is provided. If you might be interested in this position, that person will be chosen by our OUUF Board, then presented for Membership vote at the Annual Congregational Meeting later this year. Please send a letter to OUUF Regarding Chaplain position, P.O. Box 576, Carlsborg, WA 98324-9997. IF you are interested, please get your letter to us by no later than October 12th.

As a way of showing people how they can reduce their personal consumption, the American Solar Energy Society conducts annual, national “open houses” at hundreds of homes across the country where they can see energy conservation and green energy production in action. This year the event will be on Saturday, October 6th and David Large’s home at 173 Griffith Farm Road in Sequim will be part of this event. Built as a demonstration house, it uses only a third as much energy as a code-compliant new house, and he generates the remaining energy for both the house and his electric car using roof-top solar collectors. The open house will be from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM and Dave will be available to discuss measures that can be applied to old homes, remodeled homes, and new homes. This is a strictly non-commercial event.
Contact: Dave Large at [email protected].
Please stop by, have a cup of coffee, and share your experiences and/or learn from his project.
