IVOR DAVIES AND DESTRUCTION / CREATION IN ART AND WORDAn interdisciplinary conference, jointly organised by Cardiff University and the National Museum of Wales, 26-28 Feb., 2016 (accompanying 'Silent Explosion: Ivor Davies & Destruction in Art' exhibition, National Museum Wales Cardiff, Nov. 14 2015-March 20, 2016)

Plenary speakers: Iwan Bala (University of Aberystwyth), Stephen Bann (University of Bristol), Ivor Davies, Henry Meyric-Hughes (INIVA), Peter Weibel (Director, ZKM, Karlsruhe).

The programme committee welcomes paper proposals, up to 400 words, for 20-minute papers on:

Ivor Davies' visual art; contexts and contemporaries; language, word and image in Davies' and contemporaries' work; Davies' work in relation to the Scottish Sixties and Seventies avant-garde; the 1966 Ravensbourne symposium, including Dom Sylvester Houédard, Peter Holliday, Mark Boyle, Gustav Metzger; the DIAS Symposium; destructivist aesthetic theories; explosive, fire and light art; links with Russian Futurist poetry and theatre; 1960s concrete poetry; BECA/Rebecca protest; the artist as critic, art historian, archivist or activist
