Dear Families, February 8,2013 Hilltop Elementary is very fortunate to have students from so many different cultures. We would like to give the students an opportunity to share and celebrate their heritage with everyone. To do so,Hilltop will be hosting a Multicultural Night. We are asking all students to complete the "Flags and Family Traditions" project. This project contains two parts: an informational writing piece and a model flag. First, students should use the included lined paper to write an informationalpiece telling their classmates about one of their family traditions. In this informational writing piece students should: Identify the country this tradition is from. Describe the tradition. Identify the people/family involved in the tradition. Students should also create a modelflag to represent the country in which their tradition originated. Please use the cardstock template sent home with your child to create a modelof the country's flag. Please include the name of your country and the student's name on the back of the flag. This project will be due back to your homeroom teacher by Monday,February 25th,in order to have them displayed at our Multicultural Night. We would like to recognize and celebrate all of the wonderful diversity at Hilltop, so even if you will not be attending Multicultural Night, we would still like your child to complete this project.
