Cordoba, Argentina, August 2017. The second edition of the most important sustainability event in Latin America, the Green Economy Summit, will be held by the Advanced Leadership Foundation in collaboration with the Government of the Province of Cordoba on October 5th and 6th of 2017. For the second year in a row, the city of Cordoba will host this event which brings together some the most influential world leaders in the field of green economy; among them, the 44th President of the United States Barack Obama.

President Obama made climate change and investments in the green economy a priority in his administration. He previously stated at a U.N. Climate Change Summit, “There’s one issue that will define the contours of this century more dramatically than any other, and that is the urgent and growing threat of a changing climate.”

The Second Edition of the Green Economy Summit goal is to train 300 Argentine public opinion leaders on the benefits of a green economy and how it can be a competitive advantage for the country as it continues to work on its economic recovery. Over two days, national and international figures will share their vision on green economy and sustainable development, as well as helping participants develop the necessary skills to effectively communicate its importance in their own communities and spheres of influence. Each participant will commit to subsequently delivering at least 10 public speaking engagements and or media appearances about the importance of sustainable development over the course of the following 12 months.

Last year, 300 leaders representing all 23 Argentinian provinces and the federal capital of Buenos Aires, were selected among a total of 4,500 nationwide applicants. The result was a group of remarkable professionals committed to raising awareness about the importance of sustainable development and how we can improve our economy, become more competitive and develop a strategic advantage, while taking care of the planet. Speakers at this event included four Nobel Laureates (Mario Molina, Shirin Ebadi, Kurt Wurthrich and Ada Yonath) and distinct personalities such as: President Mauricio Macri of Argentina; former Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar; US environmental activist Robert Kennedy Jr; environmental activist Alexandra Cousteau and grand-daughter of Jacques Cousteau; former US Ambassador to Argentina Noah Mamet; among others.
