Abstract
Indonesia is a region with a wealth of fauna and diverse. Among the fauna spread over
Indonesian territory, it is very interesting to note in particular reptile and in this case, snake.
Along with advances in science and technology, animal studies have been done and in order to
curb the documentation either written or image it is a necessary to have a media information to
manage it, while the media information is constructed in the form of an electronic album and
through a research with qualitative descriptive methods as well as software engineering approach
with waterfall paradigm.
This study produced electronic album which is to help provide information
communicatively, while the final result of this study showed the classification of snakes, which
is divided into two groups: the protected and unprotected by the Act No. 5 of 1990 on
Conservation of Biological Resources and Ecosystem, which each has two parts in the context of
venomous and non-venomous, electronic album was designed in a web-based album to ease
users to search the information.

I. Background
Indonesia is a region with a wealth of fauna and diverse. The diversity of reptiles,
especially snakes, is one of Indonesia's fauna attracted to know. Along with advances in
science and technology, animal studies have been done for identification and preservation of
reptiles.
Snakes are reptiles that have unique characteristics, in terms of character, habitat,
way of life, how to survive and manage. About 300 types of snakes exist and spread in all
over Indonesia. Each region has its own characteristics, although it is still within the same
species.
Today, the existence of these snakes in people environment still has a frightening
image as is one bitten he will die because of the venom. (Baharudin, 2014: 421). This is due
to the lack of socialization and education conducted by government and private institutions
that are competent in their field related to the types of snakes that exist in the environment.
Due to lack of knowledge, the species of the snake will slowly become extinct.
The types of reptiles already became extinct can be seen in the Government
Regulation No. 7 of 1999 on Preservation of Fauna and Flora. Of reptile species, 31 became
extinct, among which 3 Green Tree Python, Molurus, and Timorensis. These snakes became
extinct because of several factors, one of them is due to the number of snakes that live and
circulate not as much as the number of babies - baby snake appeared.
Today there is a group of reptile lovers, whose activities are maintaining and
breeding reptiles. The reptile lovers join and form a community of reptiles. In addition to
maintaining and breeding reptiles, they are also often held a reptile education to society. The
reptile communities run these activities as a concern and participation in preservation of the
species and the protected animal.
Currently the reptile communities need to do a documentation of the data, in order to
be easily obtained the information quickly and precisely. Data is currently still spread in
each community, so it has been necessary of an album in the form of electronic media,
which contains all the information related to snake species.
Reptile (snakes) information media Management was conducted by renewing
capabilities of web-based electronic albums that have been developed previously. To analyze
the development needs of the electronic album PIECES method is used, then the web is built
using the programming language PHP with MySQL database so that the information
contained can be managed easily using a Content Management System (CMS). The result of
this research is Information Reptile (Snakes) Media.
Reptile (Snakes) Information Media Management through development of Electronic
Album will be useful for information to the public, but the problems still exist, among others:
1. How to provide information to the public in detail about the snakes?
2. How can society keepers and lovers of snakes provide information to the public more
easily and accurately to share information?
3. How to build user friendly electronic album as the effort of the information media?
4. How legality and proprietorship of snakes owned by snake lovers?

Definition of Management
Management is essential in organization's activities, in an effort to work together in
order to achieve a purpose, so that the expected results will be achieved can be effective and
efficient. Management may involve various elements of the organization which is internal,
external and supporting elements such as infrastructure, facilities, tools, goods, and function
in achieving a goal.(HaroldKoontz,1990)
Understanding Snakes
Snakes are reptiles no legs and have scales. The number, shape and arrangement of
scales can be used to identify snakes. Snakes have most circulation compared to other
reptiles, due to a strong survival power. All snakes are carnivorous, they can be found in the
mountains, forests, deserts, plains, farmland, neighborhoods, and sea. They can be classified
into venomous and non-venomous snakes, body sizes ranging from 10 mm to 10 m. The
longest snake came from family Pythonidae. Most of snakes are between 45-200 cm long,
and 10-20% of the length is the tail (Mattison, 1992).
Snake Inmate Management
Despite their natural habitat being in nature, the snakes can be domesticated and bred
in the home (Deric, 2012). To inmate snake needs to consider some aspects such as the
selection of snakes, cage and cage placement. It is intended to provide space and movement,
air circulation, as well as the temperature of the snake in the cage so that when he was in
nature, the snakes do not become stressed because of the cage setting falseness.
For breeding snakes, it should be noted cage size, food dose, and the age of the snake
itself. In average, snakes are ready to breed around 2-3 years, for types of pythons and boa.
If the snake is immature or it has not reached the age, though it can breed, the eggs produced
will fail (slug). In contrast, if it comes of age and gets proper treatment, the chances of the
eggs produced will be good, although there is a slug but the possibility is very small.
Understanding System Design
The design of the system is a depiction of the design and manufacturing of sketches
or arrangement of several separate elements into one unified whole and functioning ". The
broad objective of the system design is to meet the needs of the users of the system, and to
provide a clear and complete design to a computer programmer and technical expertise of
others involved. (Journal CCIT 2007 Defined By Jhon and Gery Grudnitski).
On the other hand, Andri Kris proposed system design is a phase where the expertise
designing for the elements of computer that uses a system that is the selection of equipment
and computer programs for the new system is required.
Understanding Web
Deddy Hidayat defined web as a collection of pages that are used to display text
information, still images or motion, animation, sound, or a combination of these, either they
are static or dynamic that forms a series of interconnected structure, each of which is
associated with pages.
While on the other hand Yuhefizar mentioned web as a method for displaying
information on the internet, includes text, images, sound, and video, interactive, and has the
advantage to connect (link) of one document with other documents (hypertext) accessed
through a browser.
Methods of Analysis PIECES
According to Al fatta (2007: 51) it is a method that uses six variables: Performance,
Information / Data, Economic, Control / Security, Efficiency, and Service (PIECES).
Performance (Performance Analysis) is to analyze the performance issues occur when the
business tasks do not reach the target. Information (Information Analysis) focuses on the
quality of information that is a crucial commodity for users. Evaluation of the ability of
information systems to produce useful information requires doing to address the
opportunities and address the problems that arise. Economic (Economic Analysis) need
analyzing for the economy is the most common motivation for a project.
Security (Security Analysis) concerns about business tasks to be monitored and
corrected if substandard performance is found. Control is installed to improve system
performance, prevent, or detect system errors, ensure data security, and requirements.
Efficiency (Efficiency Analysis) requires analyzing for efficiency regarding how to generate
outputs as many as possible with the least possible input. Services (Analysis Services) for
the system is to provide maximum services to its users.
Research Methods
Due to continuing previous studies, this research method was to reform management
system (see figure). The study was conducted for 6 months and web development was built
upon by creating a Content Management System (CMS) using the programming language
PHP and MySQL database.
Results and Discussion
Evaluation System
To identify and evaluate the problems and to identify the weaknesses in the
application of electronic album and to ensure a new system is feasible or not it is necessary
to analyze PIECES (Performance, information, Economy, Control, Efficiency,Service).
➢ Performance, can provide information anytime and anywhere as well as in accordance
with the needs. The website shows the registration form of digital candidate electronic
album app users. The registered users will be updated so he/she can enter information
more fully and set the access to get into the pages of the web site.
➢ Information, information displayed using the website can be easily updated and
displayed according to their needs. Information on the new website, added on the
management of the enclosure can be seen by every member who is registered.
➢ Economy, the realization of the initial cost of website creation is usually quite high, due
to the cost incurred more at the beginning of making the web, purchasing a domain and
hosting. On the contrary, the need to update usually required less costs. So, the proposed
website will have economic value in compiling member data so that it can provide
benefits in accordance with the cost. The website uses PHP and can be hosted on a
LINUX servers, the cost may be issued as efficiently as possible in the yearly
maintenance.
➢ Control, Control of the website is much easier and safer for the data is stored in the
database and not easily lost. In addition, the database and the content of the website can
now be easily accessed and changed the content of the website using a Content
Management System.
➢ Efficiency, Utilization website as a medium of information, in addition to minimizing
the use of resources, information input is also much more important to the feasibility of
data access. Use of quick and reliable hosting is to store databases and information from
this website.
➢ Service, information service electronic album snakes can be accessed anytime and
anywhere by the user, accessible 24 hours / 7 days.
System Updates
Sitemap design for a new system
Additions to the new system can be found on improvements Content Management
system so web administrators can access and update the content, images, media, data base of
the system directly without assistance from the developer website. It is easier to access and
website management becomes more efficient and the results are displayed as expected. On
the website menu has been added Enclosure Management menu to see how the treatment
and the management of the times for anyone who wants to know how the management of the
cage for the animals reptiles (snakes) they can be opened in this electronic album. The
electronic album already provides information –information related to flows of cage
management as follows:
1. Ideal Cage considered from the materials of the cage, the size of the cage, the
temperature of the cage, cage ventilation, pedestal used for stables and intensity to
replace the cage.
2. Cleanliness of snake cages for the muck, pee and lay eggs.
3. Handling when the snake is pregnant, handling when the snake lays eggs, and how to
take the eggs if separated or incubated
4. The number of cage needed to maintain the health of the snake
For database design can be seen that the information on reptiles / snakes and their
attributes such as name, description, habitat, species, pictures, comments from users all
can be seen and accessed by users. Of these improvements, the information can be
constantly updated by the website administrator or community who are members of this
website so that information held is up to date and can be used to add to the knowledge
treasury of the reptiles.
