1st Capital IQ Search Example

Cable companies that received PE investments within the past 3 years

1. Go to “Screening and Analytics" and pick “Transactions Screening”

2. Click on “Industry Classifications” under Company Details on the left of the screen. Then search for Cable and select the “Cable and other Pay Television” option. Click on Add Criteria in the lower right corner

3. Under General Transaction Details, click on “Primary Features” and choose “Private Placement-Growth Capital/Private Equity” and then click Add Criteria

4. Click on “Transaction Dates” and choose “Last 3 years”. Add Criteria.

5. From the final results listed, click on the final number under “Total Matching Transactions” to view results.

2nd Capital IQ Search Example

List of Private Equity Firms who invest in the media sector

1. Go to “Screening and Analytics" and select “Companies” under Screening (left side)

2. Click on “Investment Type” under Company Details on the left of the screen. Scroll down and under “Available Items” click on “Private Equity Investing” and move this to the right in the box labeled “Selected Items”. Then click Add Criteria in the lower right corner

3. Click on “Industries of Interest” under Investment Criteria. Then search for “media” in the search box, and click on that selection, then click Add Criteria in the lower right corner

4. From the final results listed, click on the final number under “Total Matching Companies” to view results.

• Features market quotes, earnings estimates, financial fundamentals, press releases, transaction data, corporate filings, ownership profiles and research from Thomson Financial.

• The database replaces or augments with remote access other databases including SDC Platinum, Datastream, VentureXpert Web, Thomson Research, etc.

1. Log into Thomson ONE Banker from Baker Library Databases2. Once in the database, click on “Private Equity” then “Fundraising” (left

side of screen), then click on Fund Statistics3. Then from the pull-down menu under “Select Report Criteria”, select

“Ranked Firms”4. On the same screen next to “Private Equity Type” make sure “All

Private Equity Funds” is chosen5. Click on “Investment Focus” and choose “Mezzanine Stage”, then click

on “Include Selected”6. Click on “Generate Report”.
