STEM Summit - April 29-30, 2016

The STEM 2016 Summit will unite science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) educationalists and industry members in the MENA region to advance K-12 STEM education. This Summit will offer lessons learned from programs around the world and develop an action plan to increase quality and innovation in STEM education throughout the region.

In-school Professional Development Workshop Choice of topics:

21st Century Skills and Student-Centered Learning Promoting Extensive Listening Blended Learning: online practice discussion forums to accelerate and enhance learning

• Pick One standard from a choice of: English Language Arts, Math, Science

• Write your lesson plan ideas using the template provided (Go to the OUP stand)

• Entries to be submitted by 2pm Saturday October 17th to the OUP stand

• Winning entries will be announced by the end of October

• Best lesson plans will be shared on the KDSL website

Dr. Norman WebbDr. Norman L. Webb is a Senior Research Scientist, Emeritus, for the Wisconsin Center for Education Research at the University of Wisconsin. His academic training and research focuses on mathematics and mathematics education. Dr. Webb developed his widely used Depth of Knowledge (DOK) system while serving as a Program Officer for the National Science Foundation in 2010 - 2011. During this time, he also participated as a key member of the Validation Committee for the Common Core State Standards. He has since applied the DOK system while conducting alignment studies between curriculum standards and assessment for Districts and Departments of Education throughout the United States. He has served as the Principal Investigator on numerous National Science Foundation studies while directing evaluations of curriculum and professional development projects. Dr. Webb's current research concerns evaluation, assessment, and alignment.
