VISITOR’S PROGRAM The visitor’s program allows CIA.IS to expand its international network of contacts and encourages an exchange of information. In cooperation with other local and international arts institutions and the Icelandic Ministries of Culture and for Foreign Affairs, this program invites international curators, critics and art historians to Iceland to introduce them—and bring their expertise—to the local art scene. The program connects people working in a variety of roles within the international art world and thus strengthens Iceland’s visibility and prominence abroad.
CIA.IS welcomes a large number of gallery owners, scholars, journalists and other art professionals to Iceland annually. The center hosts groups such as patrons from US Museums (such as Museum of Modern Art in New York, Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of New Mexico Foundation or the Speed Art Museum and art professionals from major arts institutions in Germany and many other nations.
