The Binomial Distribution is a sampling distribution (for the sign test).

The sampling distribution of a statistic:(1) gives all the values that the statistic can take and (2) gives the probability of getting each value under the assumption that it

resulted from chance alone.

The sampling distribution is the chance distribution to which we compare our obtained results.
