'A Christian school community, helping children learn and grow to achieve their potential'.

Year 6 Art —Jack Kamleh

Dear Parents,

KOINONIA is the word that is emblazoned across the topic of our

School Logo. It’s a tricky word to define, as there is no single

word in the English language that carries the richness of its

meaning. It’s a word that appears in New Testament Scriptures

and is used to describe the experience of community, mutual

sacrifice and participation for those who follow Christ. I love that

this word is used as a banner over our School, as it speaks into

the very heart of who we are and who we hope to collectively

become as a community.

EMMANUEL is another word that I love as it reminds us of the

profound truth – God is with us!

These two words come together beautifully at our Closing

Worship Service TONIGHT where we have the opportunity to

celebrate what it means to be a part of the HCCS Community.

It’s a time where we can acknowledge the experience of

participation in our learning programs – ELC to Year 12. It’s a time

where we acknowledge our students and the determination

they have shown throughout the year. It’s a time where we

thank our Educators and our Board for the magnificent

contributions they have provided to students and families

throughout the year. It’s a time where we celebrate and give

thanks to God for his presence within our community.

We invite ALL FAMILIES to be a part of this fantastic event

tonight.

WATER PLAY FUN

The little kids can't have all the fun! The Year 10

students jumped at the chance to come over to

Verdun and join in water play with Mrs

Shepherd's Receptions last week. How good is it

going to be when they are over here all the

time?

THANK YOU SRC Semester 1 and 2 Representatives met fortnightly to

discuss the various class suggestions and other related

information. The students would share their ideas

followed by questions and small group discussion about

the benefits and cost for the School. Finally, the group

would vote and each decision needed a majority to be

passed and actioned.

SRC meetings were also used to decide on news worthy

items to be shared at Assemblies and presented to their

peers.

Students also had many opportunities to compere

special events at School including Anzac Day,

Remembrance Day, Easter and Christmas Worship

Services.

At various times throughout the year the SRC wrote to the

4 Sponsor Children that we support as a school

community through Compassion Australia.

This year the students at HCCS raised in conjunction with

the TEAR Read-a-thon, hot dogs, non uniform days, lolly

sales, book SALES a very respectable $3,900.00

It is also important to acknowledge that while the SRC is

run by the students there is an adult support network

including the Front Office Staff who collect, count and

bank money including Tracy Juers, Sandy Johnson and

Nikki Campbell, Kirby Toma, Nicolle Harders and Cathy

Johnson. Other Educators who play an important

supportive role include Colleen O’Rourke who has been

instrumental in the setup and planning of the SRC in

previous years.

Finally, congratulations to all SRC representatives for their

excellent attitude and effort in 2018. They can be proud

of their achievements.

Jeff Harrison (SRC Coordinator)

Last week, Mr Harrison thanked the SRC for the

wonderful job they have done during 2018 by giving

them a pizza lunch.

HCCS would like to Thank Mr Harrison for being

a great leader himself!
