Confessing Sins

Question:
If I go to the Sacrament of Penance and end up
repeating the same sins, does that mean I do not
have a strong enough intention to amend my life?

Answer:
There is a popular expression that says, “Be patient.
God isn’t finished with me yet!” Growing in faith and
holiness is an ongoing, lifelong project, and our
struggle with sin is at the heart of it. As St. Paul
says, the good he intends to do, he does not do. The
evil he does not intend, he does! It is not always a
lack of intention, but more often the allure of evil that
makes it difficult to change.

When we confess our sins, we are to come with a
fully contrite heart. You need to reflect on your true
feelings toward your actions before approaching the
sacrament. After confession, there are strategies
you can make to avoid falling into the same traps of
sin. First, pray for and seek out strength and
perseverance through multiple sacraments,
charitable work, and personal sacrifice. Second,
avoid occasions of sin when you might fail or be
sorely tempted. In doing these things, remind
yourself daily that it is a spiritual war we wage, and
with God’s grace, we will succeed. ©LPi

WALKING FOR SOULS~ Dust off your
sneakers and let’s start walking at the
St. Marys Catholic Cemetery. We are
starting a little later then last year and we
hope to see everyone on Wednesday, June 3, beginning
at 7:00 p.m. Like in past years, we will meet at the
Chapel to begin the Rosary. Can’t walk but would like to
join us, bring a lawn chair and sit by the Chapel to say
the Rosary. Please remember there are
NO pets permitted in the Cemetery.
For any questions,
give Bonnie a call at 8343214 or
call Kathy at 7811109.
Looking forward to see everyone!
REFLECT ON SUNDAY’S READINGS~

First Reading: All these devoted themselves with
one accord to prayer (Acts 1:14a)
Those closest to Jesus in his life gathered together in
the immediate aftermath of his resurrection and
ascension. What sort of mixed emotions do you think
they experienced?

Second Reading: Rejoice to the extent that you
share in the sufferings of Christ, so that when his glory
is revealed you may also rejoice exultantly. (1 Pt 4:13)
Peter encourages those who suffer for the faith to
“ glorify God. “ When have you experienced this type of
redemptive suffering?

Gospel: “I glorified you on earth by accomplishing the
work that you gave me to do. Now glorify me, Father,
with you, with the glory that
I had with you before the
world began. “
(John 17:45)
At the conclusion of his
farewell discourse, Jesus
offers a prayer of petition to
the Father for his disciples.
How do you find Jesus’
words comforting?

How many holy water fonts can you count in

Dear Parishioners of Sacred Heart,

Many of you have been inquiring about the Sacred Heart
Parish Raffle Ticket Fundraiser. During these difficult
times and because of the “stay at home” guidelines, etc.
that have been announced during this pandemic, we had
no choice but to cancel the Parish Picnic. Since the
tickets were already mailed to everyone in February and
also because it is one of the major fundraisers for
Sacred Heart, we are still going to have the drawing but
haven’t decided on the date or where or how the drawing
will be conducted. We need your help to try to sell or buy
your tickets so we can reach our $22,000 prize goal and
then hopefully, after we have reached our goal, the rest
of the tickets sold will be the profit that will go to the
church to help defray expenses for the parish. Therefore,
the deadline of May 30 has been extended to at least the
end of June which gives everyone more time to sell their
tickets. Your support is greatly appreciated!!

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of
you for your continued support of Sacred Heart Parish.
As Father Michael has mentioned in previous bulletins,
Sacred Heart Parishioners are always so faithful and
supportive of their parish. In all the years I have been at
Sacred Heart working in Finance, I always tell the new
Pastor, “All you have to do is ask and you will receive”!!
Sacred Heart parishioners have always pulled through
with every volunteer job, every project or renovation that
has been done, no matter what “YOU” have always
been “THERE” for Sacred Heart. Financially, as of the
present, we are doing okay and that is because of your
continual generosity and support through your offertory
envelopes and tithing. So if this support continues, we
will hopefully be able to “weather the storm” until we
open our church for Masses and are able to physically
attend Mass and try to get back to our “new normal” way
of living. Please continue to use your envelopes so we
are able to meet our monthly expenses.
“JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU”!!

May God bless you for your continued support and may
He keep you safe & healthy.

Memorial Daycommemorates the men and women
whodiedwhile in the military service of their country,
particularly those who died in battle or as a result of
wounds sustained in battle. In other words, the purpose
of Memorial Day is to memorialize the veterans who made
theultimate sacrificefor their country. We spend time
remembering those who lost their lives and could not come
home, reflecting on their service andwhy we have the
luxury and freedom that we enjoy today. We might consider
how we can support and safeguard their grievingfamilies
and loved ones who are left behind.

“In Flanders Fields”
by John McCrae, May 1915

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
