Here are daily prayers you might use this week:

Household Prayer: Morning God, as I enter into this new day, I ask that you keep me mindful of the profound nature of this Holy Week. Help me to go beyond the joyful parade of the palms and to follow Jesus into the suffering of this world, mindful that he was obedient to you, even to the cross. Amen.

Household Prayer: Evening Thank you, God, for the gift of this day.

If I remembered today my betrayals of you,

remind me now of your steadfast love for me,

as I give this day into your hands and rest in peace.

Amen.

Christian Canine Connection - Next Classes Start 4/27/14 What is Christian Canine

Connection? It is a six week basic dog obedience training class. Classes will begin on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 5pm in the Celebration Center. Sessions will be about an hour long. Registration is open to dogs who are at least 12 weeks old at the beginning of class and must have all age appropriate vaccinations prior to the first class. The handler must be old enough and mature enough to control the dog and follow directions. There is a cost associated with the class, please call Kevin Moorehead at 874-6938 for more details.

Endowment Committee Approves A Portion of Serve Team Request: Has approved matching up to $1,250 of any unbudgeted funds raised for the Stop Hunger Now event to be held April 19, 2014. WMUMC previously hosted one SHN event sponsored by the York River District and funded a second SHN event last December. Even so, this activity is a relatively innovative activity for WMUMC and certainly offers a mission opportunity for those who might not be able to travel out of town for a mission event. Therefore, the Endowment Committee has agree to support this event by matching any funds raised above the $2,500 currently in the Operating Budget.

Engraved Bricks The Building Fund Finance

Committee is again offering the

congregation the opportunity to

donate personalized engraved

bricks which will be installed in the walkway that

leads to the Celebration Center. If you would like

a brick engraved in honor of someone living or in

memory of someone deceased and have not yet

placed an order, please do so by May 18. We plan

to have them installed by Father’s Day. The cost is

$175. Forms are in the Narthex and on the

Welcome table in the Celebration Center gathering

area. If you have any questions please call Kathy

Young, 877-1518.

Thank you for worshiping with us today at

Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church!

If you are a visitor, please see an usher or pastor for a visitor packet. You are welcome to use Bible reading or similar apps on your device,

but please set your phone on silent or vibrate. Childcare is available for ages birth through four years old. You may ask an

usher for directions to the nurseries. If you are looking for a church family & home, please consider giving us a try.

If you have any questions, please feel free to speak to a pastor or an usher. If you are interested in Church membership or baptism, please contact a pastor or

indicate your request as you register your attendance today. May your journey with and to God be richly blessed.

Community Blitz Day - May 3rd

Habitat for Humanity has an exciting opportunity for us to volunteer in numbers. Community Blitz Day is on May 3, and this is a special event. They ask for better than 200 volunteers and instead of one house, they fix up a whole neighborhood! This event will consist of painting, some carpentry, yard work and landscaping. The other great news is that there isn’t a lot you have to do to be able to participate. Just go to their website www.habitatpgw.org and fill out a “Liability Waiver” or there are paper copies on the bulletin board outside the Choir Room. This opportunity is too easy to not take advantage of, so sharpen up your tools, get some good garden gloves and lets get involved! Please see Elaine Smith for all the details. There is also a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board!

Less Than 3 Weeks to the MAD Rummage Sale

Rummage Sale Volunteer Sign-Up sheets are on the bulletin board in the hall, gathering area & Sunday School classes - please sign up to help

sort donations and/or work the sale. Thank you.

Fellowship Time: Before the 10 a.m. start of Sunday School classes, all are invited to enjoy a time of friendly gathering and hospitality in the Gathering Area of the Celebration Center. Starting at 9:30am, light snacks and beverages are lovingly provided by volunteers from the various adult classes. In the spirit of Christian hospitality, please take the time to greet someone you haven’t met along with sharing news with old friends. If you are part of a class, please be kind to your teacher by helping them start on time. If you are looking for a Sunday School class, ask a greeter, usher or one of the pastors for a suggestion.

Port Update: Link has recently been informed that they will not

receive their funding for the Port program for this coming winter,

leaving as many as 500 people in the cold! Your support is needed! The LINK Board are suggesting that we rally as many volunteers as possible to attend the

GVPHC meeting - Board members will also be present as will staff - to ask formerly why

the GVPHC has continued to deny an exception to such an important/critical program of

sheltering over 500 persons, and to ask what the GVPHC plans are to shelter the homeless

if this funding is not reinstated.

The GVPHC meeting is to be held on Tuesday April 15 2014 at 9.30 a.m. at the

Waterworks Building at 700 Town Center Drive Newport News - ground floor left hand

door to the meeting room - please sign in with name and your church name.
