For the 21st consecutive year, WDVE-FM (102.5) and WBGG-AM (970) are carrying all Steelers games. STEELERS NAME FOUR TEAM CAPTAINS• The Steelers selected four players to serve as team captains for the 2019 season, the

team announced through a vote of their teammates.• QB Ben Roethlisberger and C Maurkice Pouncey will serve as the offensive

captains, DT Cameron Heyward will serve as the defensive captain and FB Roosevelt Nix will serve as the special teams captain.

• Roethlisberger was selected as an offensive captain for the 11th time in his career (2008-09, 2011-18). This marks Heyward’s fifth consecutive year as a captain (2015-19), and the third time Pouncey has been named a captain (2013, 2018-19).

• Nix was named a captain for the first time in his career.

SCHEDULE NOTES• The Steelers are slated to appear in five nationally-televised primetime games,

including two Monday Night Football games at Heinz Field, during the NFL’s 2019 regular season, it was announced this spring when the NFL unveiled its 2019 regular season schedule.

• Pittsburgh kicked off its 2019 regular season on Sunday Night Football at the New England Patriots in Week 1 on Sunday, Sept. 8 (NBC, 8:20 p.m.). The Steelers will host the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2 of the 2019 regular season at Heinz Field for their home opener on Sunday, Sept. 15 (FOX, 1 p.m.).

• The Steelers will host the Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football at Heinz Field in 2019, in Weeks 4 and 8 (ESPN, 8:15 p.m.), respectively. Pittsburgh’s two other nationally televised primetime games are scheduled for Sunday Night Football at the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6 on Oct. 13 (NBC, 8:20 p.m.) and a Thursday Night Football game at the Cleveland Browns in Week 11 on Nov. 14 (FOX/NFL Network/Amazon, 8:20 p.m.).

RUDOLPH AND ROETHLISBERGER SIMILAR STATS IN NFL DEBUTS• In 2004 QB Tommy Maddox was injured in Week 2, and the injury happened on the fifth play of the third quarter. In his

first NFL game, QB Ben Roethlisberger completed 12-of-20 (60 percent) for 171 yards, with two touchdowns, two interceptions, and a rating of 82.5.

STEELERS ADD DB MINKAH FITZPATRICK• The Steelers traded for DB Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Miami Dolphins in exchange

for draft picks in the upcoming NFL Drafts. As part of the trade, the Steelers acquire Fitzpatrick along with the Dolphins fourth-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft and their seventh-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. In exchange, the Steelers have given up their first-round and fifth-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft and their sixth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

• In 2018 Fitzpatrick was one of just eight rookies with 50+ tackles and an interception, and one of just seven with 50+ tackles and 5+ passes defensed.

• Conner made the first start of his NFL career and set single-game career-highs for rushing yards (135), TDs (2 rushing), receptions (5), receiving yards (57) and scrimmage yards (192) on Kickoff Weekend of 2018 at Cleveland.

• Conner’s 135 rushing yards marked the first 100-yard rushing game of his NFL career and the fourth-most by a Steeler on Kickoff Weekend, while his 192 scrimmage yards were the third-most by a Steeler on Kickoff Weekend in team history.

scrimmage (212), rushing yards (146) and rushing TDs (2), adding 5 catches for 66 yards in Week Eight’s win vs. Cleveland at Heinz Field.

• Conner led the AFC in rushing TDs (6), yards from scrimmage per game (175.3), rushing yards per game (122.3) and rushes of 10+ yards (13) in the month of October, while rushing for at least 100 yards and two TDs in each of his three October games – becoming the first player in Steelers history with a three-game streak of at least 100-rushing yards and two rushing TDs and the first NFL player to do so since 2009.

• This marked the second time that Conner has taken home AFC honors in 2018 (Offensive Player of the Week: Week 8).

MCDONALD’S CAREER YEAR• TE Vance McDonald, who recorded single-season career bests in receptions (50)

and receiving yards (610) in 2018, set a single-game career high, and registered the first 100-receiving yard game of his NFL regular season career, with 112 receiving yards on four catches in Week 3 of 2018 at Tampa Bay on Monday Night Football.

• McDonald became the second Steelers tight end since 1960, to record at least 100 receiving yards in the first half of a game (Eric Green, Sept. 22, 1991, 118 yards).

• McDonald scored a touchdown on a 75-yard pass from QB Ben Roethlisberger in the first quarter, matching a career-long reception (75-yard TD while with San Francisco) in 2016 (Sept. 18 at Carolina).

• In Week 6 at Cincinnati, McDonald set a single-game career best with seven catches (6, Nov. 29, 2015 vs. Arizona, while with San Francisco) for 68 yards.

HADEN BREAKING IT UP• CB Joe Haden hauled in his third interception as a Steeler, picking off New England

QB Tom Brady in the fourth quarter at the Steelers’ 4-yard line in Week 15, his the 22nd interception of his NFL career and his second in 2018. Haden led all defenders in the game with a game high 12 total tackles (8 solo), two passes defensed to go along with his interception.

• Haden, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, made his Steelers debut, appearing in the 91st game of his NFL regular-season career and posted six tackles and 1.0 sack, on Kickoff Weekend of 2017 at the Cleveland Browns. He brought down Cleveland QB DeShone Kizer for a sack of three yards to end the first half – his first sack with the Steelers – third of his NFL career – and first since Sept. 11, 2011 (with Cleveland).

• In Week 7 vs. Cincinnati, Haden hauled in the 20th interception of his NFL career and his first as a Steeler, picking off Cincinnati QB Andy Dalton in the third quarter.

DAVIS: LAST MAN OF ‘D’• S Sean Davis, who missed the season opener at New England, led the Steelers’

defense for the second consecutive year in 2018, tallying 79 tackles (58 solo), to go along with an interception, seven passes defensed and a quarterback hit, in his first season at the free safety position.

• In Week 16 at New Orleans in 2018, Davis picked off New Orleans QB Taysom Hill in Pittsburgh’s end zone in the first quarter, the fifth interception of his NFL career and his first of 2018.

• Davis has recorded at least 8 total tackles in eight career regular-season games, including a 9 tackle (6 solo) outing in the Week 13 vs. Los Angeles in 2018.

HILTON MAGIC• CB Mike Hilton led Pittsburgh’s defense with 8 total tackles (6 solo), 2 tackles for

losses and a quarterback hit, along with a sack and defensive fumble recovery in Week 14 of 2018 at Oakland. He recorded a sack of Oakland QB Derek Carr (minus 6 yards) in the second quarter, his first quarterback takedown of 2018 and the fifth of his NFL career, and recovered a fumble off of a team sack in the third quarter.

• He picked off Tampa Bay QB Ryan Fitzpatrick in the second quarter of a Week 3 Monday Night Football game at Tampa Bay at the Pittsburgh’s 6-yard line – his first interception of 2018 – and the third of his NFL career. He also recovered a fumble in the second quarter, marking the first defensive fumble recovery of his NFL career.

• Hilton joined the Steelers’ practice squad in December of 2016, and started four-of-16 games played with Pittsburgh in 2017, recording 54 tackles (42 solo), 4.0 sacks, two interceptions, eight quarterback hits and 10 tackles for losses and six passes defensed.

DEFENSIVE ADDITIONS’• Pittsburgh signed two key additions to the defense this offseason, adding from CB

Steven Nelson the Chiefs and LB Mark Barron from the Rams. • In his five-year NFL career, four with Kansas City, Nelson has started 39-of-53 regular-

The Steelers’ next possession ended on an 8-yard touchdown pass from Rudolph to McDonald that capped a 12-play, 75-yard march in 6:40. Rudolph’s pass to Smith-Schuster for a two-point conversion was intercepted and the Seahawks retained the lead at 21-19 with 11:16 left in regulation.

A 41-yard field goal by Boswell had snapped a 7-7 tie with 2:28 remaining in the second quarter.The Steelers had taken over following a punt at their 28 with 5:54 left prior to halftime. The Seahawks

were guilty of defensive holding on the first snap of the drive. Roethlisberger then connected on three straight passes, one to Smith-Schuster, one to wide receiver James Washington and another to Smith-Schuster, for a combined 39 yards to the Seahawks’ 28. The drive stalled thanks in part to an offensive pass interference penalty against McDonald on third-and-4 from the Seahawks’ 22.

Seattle had tied the game at 7-7 on a 14-yard touchdown pass from Wilson to tight end Dissly, who caught the ball in the end zone behind Bush and in front of Davis. The Seahawks had kicked a field goal on fourth-and-3 from the Steelers’ 28, but Steelers defensive tackle Dan McCullers was called for unnecessary roughness and that set Seattle up with a first down at the Steelers’ 14.

A penalty had also negated the Steelers’ first touchdown.Inside linebacker Mark Barron recovered a fumble created by outside linebacker T.J. Watt late

in the first quarter and returned the ball 34 yards for a score, but Davis was called for an illegal block behind Barron as Barron was running into the end zone.

The Steelers took over at the Seahawks’ 22 and attained a first-and-goal at the Seattle 1 after outside linebacker Mychal Kendricks was called for pass interference on a fade to running back Jaylen Samuels at the end zone pylon. Conner followed with a 1-yard touchdown run.

The Steelers sacked Wilson four times in the first half.

PITTSBURGH – The Steelers fought back late, but weren’t able to stop the Seahawks on their final drive, falling, 28-26, in the team’s home opener at Heinz Field. The loss dropped the Steelers to 0-2.

The Steelers got back in the game late when Devin Bush picked up the loose ball at the 14-yard line on an aborted play, and returned it to the three-yard line, where he went out of bounced. Mason Rudolph hit Vance McDonald for a three-yard touchdown, cutting the lead to 28-26 after Chris Boswell’s extra point.

The Seahawks achieved some much-needed separation in a back-and-fourth affair on a 28-yard touch-down pass from quarterback Russell Wilson to wide receiver DK Metcalf with 7:15 left in the fourth quarter.

A successful challenge of a non-call for defensive pass interference on strong safety Terrell Edmunds turned an incompletion and an impending third-and-20 into a first-and-10 at the Steelers’ 35-yard line.

Wilson found Metcalf three snaps later.Kicker Jason Myers’ extra point gave Seattle a 28-19 lead.The Seahawks took the ball away early in the third quarter and then took the lead.Wilson connected with tight end Will Dissly on first-and-10 from the Steelers’ 12-yard line for a

touchdown with 9:49 left in the third quarter. Dissly got behind inside linebacker Bush and caught the ball in front of free safety Sean Davis. Myers’ extra point made it 14-10 Seahawks.

The scoring drive began at the Steelers’ 40 after a pass from quarterback Rudolph bounced off wide receiver Donte Moncrief and was intercepted by Seahawks free safety Bradley McDougald.

Rudolph had replaced starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (right elbow) on the Steelers’ first possession of the second half.

The Steelers countered the Seahawks’ third-quarter touchdown with a 33-yard field goal by kicker Boswell that cut the Seattle advantage to 14-13. The big play on their seven-play, 60-yard drive in 3:28 was a 45-yard flea flicker, a pitch from running back James Conner back to Rudolph, who then found wide receiver JuJu Smith Schuster for a gain to the Seattle 16-yard line.

Seattle countered with a 37-yard burst for a touchdown by running back Rashaad Penny on third-and-2 with 3:04 left in the third quarter. GAME SUMMARY

PITTSBURGH – QB Ben Roethlisberger threw three touchdowns and RB DeAngelo Williams rushed for three touchdowns as the Steelers beat the 49ers, 43-18, in the 2015 home opener in front of a record-setting crowd (66,472) at Heinz Field.

Roethlisberger threw a two-yard score to TE Heath Miller late in the first quarter, and then threw a two-point conversion to WR Antonio Brown to give Pittsburgh an 8-0 lead. San Francisco K Phil Dawson connected on a 47-yard field goal early in the second quarter to cut the lead 8-3, but it would be the closest the 49ers would get the rest of the game.

The Steelers scored three straight touchdowns, the first of which was a Williams two-yard run. Roeth-lisberger then connected with WR Darrius Heyward-Bey for a 35-yard touchdown. Williams scored on a nother two-yard run to give

Pittsburgh a 29-3 lead at halftime. QB Colin Kaepernick threw a 14-yard touchdown to WR Anquan Boldin early in the fourth quarter to cut

the lead to 29-10, but Williams scored his third rushing touchdown of the game on the Steelers’ ensuing drive to make it 36-10. Kaepernick threw a 75-yard touchdown to WR Torrey Smith on the 49ers next drive, but it was countered by a Roethlisberger seven-yard touchdown pass to Brown.

Pittsburgh’s offense finished a perfect 5-for-5 in the red zone, and the Steelers’ defense recorded five sacks. LB Ryan Shazier led the team with 15 tackles.
