The first mentionedcombination, Aprostocetus kurandensis, was published with a description making ita valid, available, nominal species in 1913.The combination, Tetrastichus kurandensis, annotated as "new species" appeared witha description in 1914. Girault's listing ofthe taxon as Tetrastichus (Aprostocetus )kurandensis (Girault) under the heading ofAprostocetus in the Bull. Wis. nat. Hist.paper I interpret as meaning Aprostocetuskurandensis (Girault). Both 1913 papershave descriptive notes and both issued inDecember of that year. As a standard Iaccept the Bull. Wis. nat. Hist. paper ashaving priority. My interpretation thereforeis that Aprostocetus kurandensis haspriority over Tetrastichus kurandensis andthe reference for this nominal species is the1913 Bull. Wis. nat Hist. Soc. paper.Hy. 1435 is a duplicate Queensland Museumnumber for the Syntypes of this species andhas been cancelled. The published number,Hy.1773, occurs on Slide 2 which indicates

DATA are notvery specific and his description does notmention the sex or sexes he was describing.I have therefore included the specimenscollected on 7th March, 1932 as part of hissyntypical series. He certainly would havehad them to hand at the time of thedescription (31st March, 1932) and theywere collected by his daughter. Thespecimens on the card are obviously part ofthis series (the missing female head is onSlide 2) and I have included them asSyntypes even though Girault has notplaced any type-annotation on his labelwith them. The Queensland Museum register numbersfor the Syntypes of this species are T.9153(Slide 1), T.9154 and T.9155 (Slide 2) andT.9155 (Card).

He has omitted to cross out"Type" on his label with this specimen. The Queensland Museum register numberfor the Syntypes of this species is T.4800.

1913, Bull. Wis. nat. Hist. Soc. (N.S.) 11:41-Chrysoatomus latipennis sp. nov. +description.

PUBL. DATA: A single female, sweepinglow vegetation along a brooklet, mountainside (500 feet), jungle growth, October 28,1911. Babinda, Queensland. Type [Hy.1639], Queensland Museum, the abovespecimen on a slide (with the head of typeMestocharella feralis. Gir.).QM: Card - Holotype 9 mesosoma(damaged) minus most legs and all wingsexcept part of right fore wing; 1 legseparated. "Chrysoatomus latipennis Grit,Type 9 [GM".Slide - 3 coverslip fragments (2 cracked);the outer furthest from the label is crackedand contains a head with antennaeattached; the small, uncracked, adjoinedcoverslip fragment contains a head minusmost of the antennae (only a few separatedfragments remain) and 1 fore wing; theinner, cracked coverslip contains an intact, unidentified mymarid and eulophid (minushead). The heads and the fore wing belongto the Holotypes of Mestocharella feralisGirault and Chrysoatomus latipennis. Ileave it for the first reviser to sort theseout. "Hy/1639 [GM". Girault hasreplaced "1480" with "1639" on this label."Chrysoatomus latipennis Gir. 9 [GH1".On the last label Girault has replaced"feralis " with "latipennis ".

NOTES: Both papers were written inDecember 1913. The Bull. Wis. nat. Hist.Soc. (N.S.) was undoubtedly written firstand I have consistently treated it as havingissued first. Therefore Chrysoatomoideslatipennis is a valid new combination fromChrysoatomus latipennis.

Girault's PUBL. DATA state that theHolotype was on a slide which appears tobe an error if Girault's label with the card-mounted mesosoma is to be believed. I amaccepting this mesosoma to be part of theHolotype, but it requires examination bythe first reviser to confirm its identity.Girault's main slide label is a little difficultto understand. The combinationChrysoatomus feralis does not occur in theliterature nor in Girault's unpublishedmanuscript. I think he meant Mestocharella

feralis. He has corrected the combinationto Chrysoatomus latipennis but omitted toadd Mestocharella feralis to this slide. Noother slide exists of Mestocharella feralisand I take this slide to contain theHolotype head of this nominal species.Hy.1480 crossed out on the slide is theQueensland Museum register number forChrysoatomus feralis which is reallyMestocharella feralis.

NOTES: The published spelling of thespecific name is /istzi, but on his labelsGirault has spelt it two ways; /istzi and/iszti. I am retaining the published spelling/istzi. Girault did not select a Holotype inthe literature, therefore his two femalesfrom Gatton taken on 21st December 1931are Syntypes. The specimen taken at thetype locality on 18th January 1932 has notype-status since its data were not includedin the PUBL. DATA. It is rather acoincidence that the Syntype now missinghas the same parts mounted on a slide asthose missing from the female on Card 2. Ihave no evidence to suggest that this ismore than just coincidence. The Queensland Museum register numberfor the Syntypes of this species is T.9166. Ihave not given the parts on Slide 2 aseparate number since most of thisspecimen is missing.

NOTES: Although Girault has specified thefemale caught on July 24, 1913 as his typeor Holotype the specimens have no dataand his identification labels do notdiscriminate which is the Holotype. For thisreason I have given the specimens Syntype-status. The third specimen (Card 3) may bepart of the syntypical series, but in theabsence of data and type annotation byGirault this remains doubtful. The parts onthe slide are from his "Type", but again,in the absence of data they cannot beassociated with any specimen. Therefore, Ihave stated them to be from the Syntypes. The Syntype on Card 2 bears theQueensland Museum register numberHy.1924. The missing specimen has notbeen registered.

LONGIPILUM MONODONTOMERELLA Girault,1925.

1925, Insecutor Inscit. menstr. 13 : 98-sp.nov. + description.

PUBL. DATA: Innisfail, A.P. Dodd. Asecond female, Kuranda, A.P. Dodd. In hisunpublished manuscript Girault says, "Thetype is a single female taken in April, 1920.The Kuranda specimen was taken from atree trunk in October, 1919". There followsa brief description in turn followed by thedescription of a new varietyMonodontomerella longipilum eros[CHEIRONYM]. The specimen on Card 2below is labelled as this variety and has theKuranda specimen's data. Thus thespecimen on Card 2 is the Syntype ofMonodontomerella longipilum fromKuranda. Since this section of theunpublished manuscript was written in 1931and the published description appeared in1925 it is clear that the decision to separate

the Kuranda specimen as a new variety hadnot been taken until after 1925.QM: 2 cards on separate pins and 1 slide asfollows:Card 1 - 1 Syntype 2 minus head, rightfore wing and some leg parts; left wingsand metasoma separated. DATA above). TheQueensland Museum register number forthe Kuranda Syntype of this species isT.9172, the Innisfail Syntype is T.5081.
