MINUTES:Thank you for the snacks and refreshments. Reverend Ken Tobler gave us the first of his lessons on “Tying Faith into Nots,” focusing on the commandment to “doubt not.” Next week he returns to teach us on the exhortation that we “judge not.”

The paintings that David Cooley generously donated are still up for auction/bid. Ed Payton is working to have them up loaded to an art website for potential bidding to art lovers. If you have insight into the art world, please contact Ed Payton to provide your knowledge.

Hockey, anyone? The group from the class who attended the Tulsa Oilers vs. Utah Grizzlies hockey game last Saturday had a great time. Rumor has it they all left with all of their teeth intact. Thanks to Karen Campbell for organizing this event.

MISSIONS:



Junior Achievement at Burroughs Elementary – 18th February: Rev. EvaMarie Campbell needs three more people to participate in the JA for a Day event at Burroughs. You can pick the age that you would like to teach. Past participants indicate that they were incredibly blessed by the experience. If you are interested, please contact EvaMarie and plan to attend training on February 11th at 2:00 at BAUMC.

Barton/Clinton/Gordey Chili Supper – 22nd February: Okay, friends, our inimitable leader Jim Embrey needs more volunteers for several positions to get all of the Chili Supper tasks done. It takes a full class effort to successfully serve the church, so please look at the slots needing a

Scott Gardner’s sister, Kathy Johnson, died last week after a long illness. Her service is at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9th at First Presbyterian Church.

George Brownlee, Karen Brownlee Campbell’s father-in-law, died last week. His service is in Kingfisher on Thursday, February 11th.



Kip Jones has had surgery and is now at home and would appreciate cards. His address is 1116 E. 60th St., Apt. B, Tulsa, OK 74105-8438.

Allene Donley’s brother is having surgery and prayers were requested for the doctors.

Lynn Jessee Russell’s father was gravely ill over the weekend, but seems to be improving slightly.

I have been in two car accidents, totaling my car and me. I have a judgement against me unjustly that has risen to a large amount of money.

APPRECIATION PARTY – Tickets are now on sale for the all church party on Friday, February 26, 2016, to honor our own Shari Goodwin as she retires from her many years of service as Director of Communications for Boston Avenue. Sources say there will be lots of humor, great food and an outpouring of love for sweet Shari, so let’s have a massive Maranatha presence at this special event!

ADVENT SPEAKERS SOUGHT – It is always special to have our Advent lessons taught by members of our own class, and is something to which our class looks forward all year. If you



would be willing to teach one Sunday during Advent (December 11 or December 18), please contact Michelle Place to discuss scheduling.

CLASS ROSTER AVAILABLE - The 2016 Maranatha Roster (prepared by Pam Low) is available on the classroom’s back table in hardcopy form and was sent via email to all class members.

CLASS DISCUSSION GUIDELINES - As Marita Morgan so deftly phrased it, we are a large class with many people who have lots of interesting things to say. In order to give everyone an opportunity to voice their comments, we are incorporating into our weekly lessons the



discussion guidelines that Marita utilized. As a reminder to us all, here are the guidelines: (1) Only one comment per person per class. (2) Economy of words. (3). Speak loudly so everyone has an opportunity to hear you. Thank you for adhering to these discussion guidelines so that we will all have an opportunity to participate in the discussions and benefit from hearing each other.
