+ Lisel Neumann GWS Major Lisel Neumann is a Senior studying Psychology and Gender and Women's Studies, and is extremely excited to be graduating! She has spent the past four years at this university working for equal rights for all by being active in groups such as the National Organization for Women UIUC Chapter, and Advocates for Choice. She is also a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, and other social organizations. Post-graduation, she will be teaching elementary school in Detroit with Teach For America.

Tajmar Carter

GWS Major

Tajmar Carter is a Chicago native. After graduation she will be pursuing a Master's in Social Work, and later a PhD in Educational Policy Studies. Her career aspiration is to be a social worker for Chicago Public School System.

Brittany Tatum

Minor in GWS

Brittany Tatum is a minor in GWS and a major in international studies.  After graduation, she will be a summer organizer for the Obama Campaign this summer and in the fall she will be attending law school in Chicago

Rebecaa Hamman

Minor in GWS

Rebecca Hamman is graduating with a major in African Studies and a minor in GWS. She will be pursuing an MSc in Development Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, UK. She hopes to someday return to South Africa to continue spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS.

Carly Scheinbaum

Minor in GWS

Carly Scheinbaum is a psychology major, with a minor in Gender and Women's Studies. Future plans for Carly include volunteering for Chicago's first vertical farm as well as a career in semi-professional trick bicycle riding.

Alethea McNeil

Major in GWS

Alethea McNeil is a senior majoring in Gender and Women’s Studies.  Upon her graduation in December of 2011 she plans to attend medical school.  Her desire is to become an obstetrician/gynecologist.  She is very passionate about women’s reproductive health and her ultimate goal is to open a women’s research hospital.

Whitney Marie Nicole Hamilton

Major in GWS

After graduation, Whitney Hamilton will take a year off to work full time at a day care in Champaign, IL. She will return to school to earn her Masters in Social Work and continue her education to earn her J.D.

Sarah Phillips

GWS Major

Sarah Phillips is a GWS major and was the student representative to the faculty this past year. She spent her time at the U of I as an activist, volunteer, and a member of various student groups. Next year she will teach secondary math in the Mississippi Delta with Teach For America.

Amy Leahy

LGBT/Q Studies Minor

Amy Leahy is a Psychology Major and LGBT/Q Studies Minor. During her time at U of I, she participated on 3 improv comedy teams and was employed as the Assistant Manager at the Illini Union's Courtyard Cafe. She hopes to use her knowledge gained from her studies at U of I to inform a successful career in social work.

Sabrina Gosnell

GWS Major

Sabrina Gosnell is a late 20s undergraduate student immersed in an academic and personal purgatory between quasi-adolescence and pseudo-adulthood. She is especially fascinated by cultural constructions of sexuality, binaries, and our seemingly sentimental obsession with the status quo. She will graduate in December, at which point she plans to nap often with the dog prior to starting grad school the following August.
