NOTIFICATION

G.s.~. 343(£) In exercise of the powers · conferred by section 13 of the Governors (Emoluments, Allowance~ , and Privileges) Act, 1982 (43 of 1~82)., the Central Go \.Ernment hereby makes the following rules, namely:---

1. Short title and commencement-: (1) These rules may· be c~lled the Governors (Allowances ahd Priviletj~s) . Rules, 1987.

(2) They shall come into force on the 1st day of April, ,.1987.

-2. Oefiniti'on: In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires -

. .

(~) "Act" means · the Governors (Emoluments, Allowances and Pri vi'leges) Act, 1982 . ( 43 of 1982) ;

(b) "Official residence" in relation to a

4. H~usehold Establishm0nt: (1) The total number of officers and other staff of housern:,ld establishmen~ at official residences shall be as the President may prescribe, from ti~a to ti~~, by an order, and their scale df pay, allowances, other emoluments and facilities shall be such as are admissible to the State Government officais . and other employees of the correspondi~g posts in the concerned ,State Government, fr~m tlme to time.

(2) The officers, and the staff of tha · household establishment shall be entitled to rent free accommodation and those· of thP ·officers and · the staff who are not provided any . government accommodation shall be allowed trotise rent · allowaoca at the rates admissible to't he S;tate Government officers· and othe~mployees of the corresponding posts working in the a:> ncerned State Govern~ent and in such cas~s the firs~ charge of ten per cant on the pay shall ~lso be met out of the ·G·overnor' s · ·allo1Jances. ·

{3) The staff of the hf?usehol.-d establis'hmarlt shall not ·be allowed overtime allowance. .

(12) Where there is nb railway stat~on or airport in a· State, any. journey performed by the Governor or by the spouse of the · GoVarnor, fqr private purposes, tb reach - the neaiest railway station or airport situated in a. neighbouring State, shall be

. deem~d to be an official journey.

12~ Entitlement of ·trav~lling ~llciwanc~ and daily allowance of the hous'ehold establishment accbmpanyin'g the Governor: .

(1) .~ny member of the Governoi's household establishment accampahying ths Governor on his vis(ts within the Stats o~ outside the State~ whether official or privater shall be treated as on duty and shall be entitled to draw tiavellihg allow~rc~ and daily allowahca as ad~issible undSr the State Government rules.

(2) · A~y m~mber of the Gove~nor'~ household establishment accompanying the spo~se of the Governor during her journey within the State oniy shall be t~aatad as on duty and shall be entitl~d to draw travelling allowance and daily al"lowance as admissible ,under .the State Government rul'3s;

. official · residenc~($) withiD the State only .and for her journeys outside the stata, ·1f not

. a~companied by the Govetnor on bffictal d~ty shall be paid/by the Governor at the staff car rates of the 'State Government.

(3) . Any other members of the Gov~rnor's family or personal guests of the Gov~rnor not accompanying · the Governor or spouse of the Governor, may be allowed. to use motor vehicles of the official residences within the State and charges for such journeys shall be · paid for by the Governor at the staff car rates of the State Government.

14. Intarpr.§!tation - ·.If . any q~estion arises as to the intafpretation of these rules, it shall be referred to the Centr~l Government, who shall decide the same. · ·

15. Repeal and Savin6: {1)All the or.der.s-in fo .rce immediat'ely · afore the commencement of these tules in so fai ;~~ they rela~e to matters provided for in. thes~ rules are hereby repealed •

(2) Notwithstanding such repeal anything do~e or any action taken under the orders so repealed shall be deemed to have been done 1or. taken under the uorresponding provisions of these rules.
