Inspect carefully the area where the housing sites will be developed.
Avoid construction of subdivision or housing development in areas prone to floods or other natural calamities like landslides.

Ensure proper drainage system andappropriate physical barriers to avoid disasterin housing development areas.
Directed the Housing and Land Use RegulatoryBoard (HLURB) to review the standards used forsubdivision development in order to identifyparameters to guide both developers andbuyers.

STATE OF THE ECONOMY
• In 2008, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 4.6%.
• In 1st Quarter of 2009, the GDP was 0.4%.
REASONS FOR STABLE ECONOMY
Continued remittances from the OverseasFilipino Workers (OFWs)
Vibrant consumer spending
Continued growth of business processoutsourcing, tourism receipts, and servicessector
Government’s implementation of StimulusProgram
Strong and positive performance of thehousing and real estate sectors
STABLE HOUSING SECTOR DESPITE GLOBALRECESSION• In 1st quarter of 2009, the number of permits
issued for residential building constructiongrew by 20% compared to the same periodlast year.
• Value of residential building construction wasalso up by 18% compared to the same periodlast year.
• In the 4th quarter of 2008, Pag-Ibig Fundregistered a 16% increase in the amount loanedout to its members under the End-UserFinancing Program.
STABLE HOUSING SECTOR DESPITE GLOBAL RECESSION
• First semester of 2009, Pag-Ibig’s housing loanjumped by 36% resulting from further interestrate reduction.
Assistance for the Pag-Ibig Members affected bythe two typhoons:- Calamity and Housing Rehabilitation Loan
Programs
- Three-month moratorium on housing loanamortization payments of members of goodstanding whose houses were damaged
• NHA constructed25,000 houses andhouse-and-lotpackages with a totalcost of P2.6 billion.
• NHMFC issued its first residential mortgage-backed security called the Bahay Bonds.
