The ruling, Sundell said, is that an acreage reserve certifi. cate is incQme to the fal"'mer in the taxable year when he re· ceives it. This applies whether the farmer cashes the certificate, -redeems it in gr<?in or uses it to repay a previous price support loan,

percent of the amount of cer­tificate, the additional five percent must be included as income.

Sundell stressed that this ruling applies only to the acreage reserve 'Portion of the soil bank for which payments were made in the form of negotiable cerlificates. The acreage reserve ended in the 1958 crop year and most final payments wcre made in 1958 or will be made in 1959.
