It is a dynamic time for General Surgeons in Ontario. As surgeons, we are under constant pressure to adapt in response to advances in clinical care, technology and changing political realities. A vital mission of OAGS is to promote excellence in clinical care. Our Annual Meeting provides practical advice for common clinical and administrative issues facing practicing General Surgeons. We strive to make this meeting rele-vant and targeted to this group. Our CME-accred-ited meeting has grown to be a leading education-al forum. This year’s event will be an opportunity to learn something new, see old friends and meet

new colleagues. True to our roots, we will also keep you informed about how government initiatives impact on our membership. The political situation re-mains tense, with failed attempts to reach a fair agreement with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. We continue to represent our members in our political capacity and will be reporting on initiatives undertaken. I look forward to seeing you on November 11th for our 23rd OAGS Annual Meeting.
