VALVE INSTALLATION
OPEN CLOSED
Lug Butterfly Valves Lug style valves install between pipe flanges. Bolts are threaded into tapped the valves tapped holes from each side of the valve’s mounting flange.
Wafer Butterfly Valves Wafer style butterfly valves are “sandwiched” between pipe flanges. They install between flanges wit bolts that span the body.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
A butterfly valve consists fo a circular disc with a stem through the middle. When opened, the disc pivots 90 degrees in the valve bore, aligning with the flow, creating a nearly unrestricted flow path. When the valve closes, the disc will con-tact the seat creating a tight seal. Butterfly valves are useful for on/off services as well as applications with throttle flow.
