The basicsVerbs are actions wordsIn Spanish all verbs are conjugated.That means they have different forms depending on who or what you are talking about.There are 6 conjugated forms or endings.You have already learned this when you conjugated ser and tener.
The infinitiveAll verbs in Spanish mean to do somethingExamples:
hablar = to talk, speakbailar = to danceThis is called the infinitive form of the verb.
The stemThe stem of a verb is when you drop the ar ending.Examples:Hablar is the infinitive. Habl is the stem.Bailar is the infinitive. Bail is the stem.
To conjugate a verb you take the stem of the verb and add the correct ending.
Hablar (to talk,speak) stem: Habl
Cantar (to sing) stem: Cant
Yo cantoNosotros/as cantamosT cantasVosotros/as cantis l Ella canta Ud. Ellos Ellas cantan Uds.
