I travel a lot on my own and asmany know, love to check out the barscene in places. I find that going tobars by yourself in new cities can be alittle intimidating. The bartender is thefirst person you end up speaking withand he or she actually can set the tonefor the rest of the night. If you getsomeone personable all your insecuri-ties fade and instantaneously you feelwelcome. That is exactly what Keishadid when I went into Crystal’s. She isfunny, flamboyant and fabulous. So goto Crystal’s and check out Keisha ei-ther behind the bar or performing inone of their shows. Crystal’s is locatedin Lake Charles at 112 W. Broad Street.

Bartender of the Month:September

Last issue you heard aboutthe marvelous time I had inLake Charles. One of the

major sources of my fun was the barCrystal’s, which is Lake Charles onlygay bar. And one of the people whokept me entertained (and cocktailed) ismy choice for bartender for Septem-ber, Keisha. She is a sassy, exuberantand highly engaging bartender.

She works that bar like a pro; pour-ing drinks, giving advice and keepingthe patrons laughing. But she not onlyserves the cocktails, she is one of thebar’s premier performers. It is hard tofind that combination in one person. Iwas amazed by how everyone in thebar just warms up to her immediately. Her gregarious nature and personalityinstantly made me feel at home.
