کلسیم کیفیت گیاهان زینتی را از طرق زیر می تواند تحت تاثیر
قرار دهد:
استحکام بخشیدن به ارتباط بین سلولی از طریق استحکام تیغه میانی•
حفظ ثبات غشای سلولی•
کاهش یا بلوکه کردن بیوسنتز اتیلن•
کنترل بیماری/بیماری زاهای باکتریایی و قارچی•
درگیاهان مبتال به کمبود کلسیم تنفس به میزان زیادی افزایش می یابد •
که با کاهش ذخیره کربوهیدرات محصول، عمر آن را کاهش می دهد.
