ZUSHI, Japan (April 29, 2017) – Nearly 8,700 U.S. Navy families and local Japanese residents came together to celebrate Ikego Friendship Day on April 29. The festival started with a baseball game between U.S. Navy and Japan Maritime Self Defense Force personnel and was followed by a variety of carnival games, food booths, and live entertainment. COMMENT: I am an Ikego tower resident, and I would like to address the smoking policy. First o� , the housing sta� has been very proactive in persuading residents to be more mindful of their smoking. The sta� ’s e� orts have certainly led to a considerable decrease in second hand smoke, which I appreciate. Nevertheless, until the housing smoking policy

I’m aware that a smoking ban has already been put in place at Nara Tower in Ikego. Is there a plan to extend this ban to other apartment towers? If

Current policy states that Ise and Nara Heights are non-smoking Military Family Housing buildings with exception to some
residents who have been grandfathered until they depart. We will take your suggestion into consideration but there are no plans at this time to designate additional nonsmoking towers. If you have discussed the matter with your neighbor with no positive result, please contact the Ikego Housing Manager, Mr. Christopher Churchill, at 246-8021.
