Physical fitness is a general state of health and well-being or specifically the ability to perform aspects of sports or occupations. Physical fitness is generally achieved through correct nutrition, exercise, hygiene and rest.

The President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports — a study group sponsored by the government of the United States —declines to offer a simple definition of physical fitness. Instead, it developed the following chart:
