The new Toyota Yaris is the latest result of our efforts to build cars that meet the most complex needs. It‘s hard to believe it features so many clever ideas, wrapped up in one stylish, compact form. To make this possible, we turned convention on its head and applied what we call ‘Advanced Thinking’.

A compact car for big thinking

Our task with Yaris was to reinvent the compact car. Like a dome that fits the maximum volume into the minimum surface area, Yaris offers a surprisingly spacious interior inside a pleasingly compact exterior.

The new Yaris, designed in Europe, is bursting with energy, comfort,

functionality and style. Just take a look at the futuristic monoform shape and the new arched lower window line, which create a distinctive dynamic impression. It measures only 3750 mm, but we fitted the Yaris with a longer wheelbase and moved the windscreen and the instrument panel forward. Thereby creating class-leading interior space which is usually only available

with much larger cars.

But there’s more: a choice between a 3-door and 5-door model, three economical engines, Toyota’s Easy Flat system which enables the rear seats to be folded flat quickly and easily, and large car dynamic handling. centre console acts as the main focal point for important dials and instruments, including the standard 3D digital meter – another advanced feature, usually found on more premium models.

Assembling all instruments in the centre console offers another advantage: we were able to create more storage space for documents behind the steering wheel. The dashboard alone offers a total storage capacity of 18.2* litres. You can always expect the unexpected in a Yaris.

The T2 is fitted with a CD player, while the T3,T Spirit and SR offer as standard an audio system with the capability to play MP3 or WMA files on CD. To ensure you always enjoy crisp sound, the radio features a digital audio tuner. T3, T Spirit and SR also have a digital DSP amplifier with Live Acoustic System to emphasise bass sounds without distorting mid range notes. Both top grade models can be fitted with our turn-by-turn navigation system.

The impossible made possible

With the Yaris’ new sophisticated design, there’s plenty to admire on the outside, but wait till you see what’s inside. The interior exudes a level of quality previously unseen in this car segment. Throughout the interior, refined materials and special touches enhance the sensation of superior quality.

The front seats have been designed to provide extra support for the hips, lumbar region and spine. And, in what we call the

‘Loop style concept’, light colours feature around the door armrests, pillars and overhead, adding to the feeling of comfort and spaciousness.

Advanced thinking means that every little detail is there for a reason; elegant touches always serve a functional purpose. The upper gloveboxes for both driver and front passenger are discreetly integrated into the dashboard, all assist grips are dampened whilst the air vents are fitted with stylish and effective fin-type shutters. Spoil yourself

The new Yaris’ interior reinvents comfort with extra-comfortable seats and added legroom.Innovative thinking provided the key to creating this incredibly comfortable interior. The new Yaris is designed to fit around you in every possible way, and not vice versa. As part of our cab-forward concept, we were able to move the windscreen and instrument panel forward, and hence increase cabin space. That’s why even taller passengers will be surprised at how much

legroom there is to enjoy. The distance between the front and rear seats is880 mm, giving you the roominess and space of a large car.

We also looked at ingenious ways to improve the comfort of the centre rear seat passenger. By simply lowering the exhaust tunnel and re-routing the exhaust pipe, we were able to adopt a flat configuration. As a result, the Yaris is a true 5-seater.

The Toyota Yaris continues to raise the bar in its class. For added flexibility the seats are split 60/40. They even recline over a 10-degree angle and slide separately backwards and forwards over 150 mm and thanks to the Toyota Easy Flat system, fold down flat.

To ensure that nothing can spoil your experience, vibration and noise levels are also kept to a minimum thanks to measures like double sealing on the doors. But leave the ultimate quality test to the last – the doors close with a rich sound, previously only associated with premium segment models.


Compact on the outside, big on the inside

We have designed a car that offers spaciousness and flexibility previously unseen in a model of this size. So you can get as much out of our car as you’d like to get out of your life.

The comfortable 5-seater can be swiftly transformed to offer maximum luggage space. It couldn’t be any easier, thanks

to the innovative Toyota Easy Flat system.

The rear seats can be folded flat in one quick, easy motion using one hand. And there’s no need to remove the headrests – simply slide the seat all the way forward and tilt it down in one smooth motion. We have also placed the seat fold lever at the top of the seats, enabling you to fold down the seats from the boot – another clever idea to make your life easier.

With all seats folded the new Yaris offers 737 litres maximum loading capacity to

the window line – further evidence of the class-leading ‘big car thinking’ that’s gone into the Yaris. Even when all seats are up there’s 272 litres of luggage space, enough room to fit in a baby buggy. And if you move the rear seats in the front-most position, the luggage room grows to 363 litres.

But there’s more. We’ve added a 50-litre underfloor storage compartment for smaller items which are handy to keep in the car. If you wish to increase the boot height, simply remove the deckboard.

Innovation that opens up new possibilitiesThe new Yaris takes advanced thinking to a new level. Even before you get inside, you’re greeted with clever ideas that make your life that little bit easier.

Forget fumbling for the car keys whilst balancing the shopping bags and let the Yaris assist you. Instead of a conventional key T Spirit models feature the Smart Entry & Start System, which allows you to unlock the doors by simply touching the handle or start the engine at the simple touch of a button. All you need to do is carry the Smart Entry fob in your pocket. It’s fitted with a transmitter that sends out a signal which allows you to lock or unlock the car. It even activates the interior dome lamp to guide you in the dark as you approach the car. Once behind the steering wheel, there’s no need for a key slot. To start the car, just push the start button and the engine is ready to go.

Once you get to your destination and park the car, Smart Entry & Start System even ensures the Yaris is protected against theft. This advanced system renders lock picking virtually impossible.

The Smart Entry & Start System is just one of many advanced technologies that proves that owning a Yaris is about much more than driving.


Your short cut to more fun

You don’t have to be a racing driver to enjoy corners. Thanks to its incredible performance, the driving dynamics of the new Yaris are more in keeping with an altogether much larger car.

Choose between three powerful but economical engines, two petrol units and one diesel, all fitted with 5-speed manual transmission as standard. Or opt for MultiMode* with automatic clutch control. It operates in three modes: M which allows sequential gear shift, E for automatic gear change and Es for quicker automatic gear change, allowing you to change between manual and sequential mode to suit your individual needs.

The new Yaris SR 1.8 is poised to stand idle as little as possible. With its distinctive dynamic styling and an all-new 1.8 litre Dual VVT-i engine the hatchback maximises its sporty appeal.

Deep front and rear bumpers, side skirts and rear roof spoiler add to the dynamic appearance, whilst the obligatory SR badge, LED rear lights and chrome exhaust are also part of the premium package.

Dual VVT-i technology vouches formaximum power of 133 DIN hp at6000 rpm and a top speed of 121 mph. Let the five-speed manual gearbox do its magic and accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in9.3 seconds.

The 1.4 litre D-4D 90 diesel engine offers both responsive and responsible power.

The 1.4 litre D-4D 90 diesel adopts common-rail injection pressure of1600 bar and 6-hole injectors in order to produce better fuel atomisation and more homogeneous combustion. The electrically activated valve ensures a quicker response and more precise control by the engine whilst a variable nozzle turbocharger generates low-end torque. The result is an engine that promises a power output of 90 DIN hp/66 kW at 3800 rpm, 190 Nm of torque betweena very wide rev range –1800–3000 rpm, acceleration of0–62 mph in 10.7 seconds and afuel economy of almost 63 mpg.

The two VVT-i petrol engines are designed for maximum enjoyment and minimum fuel consumption.

1.0 litre VVT-i petrol engine Our main objective was to reduce the weight of the Yaris 1.0 litre petrol engine significantly. That’s why our engineers adopted an all-aluminium construction, whilst the cylinder bores feature an extra-slim design, the lowest ever in a Toyota engine. This, and the three-cylinder configuration, allows for a reduction in engine length.

Weighing only 67 kg, the Yaris 1.0 litre VVT-i engine is the lightest car engine available. Not surprisingly then, fuel consumption is one of the lowest for petrol engines with a combined cyclefuel consumption of only 52.3 mpg. And yet, with 69 DIN hp/51 kW at 6000 rpm, it is one of the most powerful 1.0 litre engines you’ll find. It provides93 Nm of torque at only 3800 rpm.

High performance brakingFront ventilated discs, plus ABS with EBD and BA combine to provide well-controlled, high performance braking.

ABS and EBDAnti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) is standard across all models. ABS helps to prevent the wheels from locking up when braking on a slippery road by electronically balancing the braking force between all four wheels to match the level of grip of each one. In turn, EBD optimises brake force distribution between the front and rear and left and right wheels compensating for the vehicle load. Together, the two systems help prevent the wheels from locking and enable you to steer around obstacles as you come to a stop.

Brake Assist (BA)BA (standard across the Yaris range) automatically supports emergency braking if the brakes are applied quickly but without sufficient pressure on the pedal. It does this by measuring how fast and hard the brake pedal is depressed and then, if appropriate, increasing braking force.

Vehicle Stability Control and Traction ControlVSC actively intervenes when it senses that the vehicle is at risk of sliding out of control – going too quickly around a corner, for example. It works by automatically applying the brake to the appropriate wheel, to bring the car back to its intended path. VSC is available as an option on all grades*. With TRC if you accelerate too hard or cause the drive wheels to lose grip and start to spin, TRC will instantly recognise what is happening and automatically reduce engine power to help restore traction. Available on

SR 1.8 as standard and optional on all grades.

Nine SRS airbagsYaris offers up to nine SRS airbags. All grades are equipped with SRS front airbags for the driver and front passenger. T3, Yaris T Spirit and SR also have standard SRS front side airbags, front and rear curtain shield airbags and a driver’s knee airbag – a first in its class.

In the event of a frontal collision, SRS airbags help protect the driver and front passenger. In the event of a front-end collision, the SRS driver’s knee airbag helps to protect the driver from injury against the steering column. SRS curtain shield airbags help protect front and second row occupants from head injuries during side collisions.

Headrests and ELR seat belts for all seatsAll five seats have three-point Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) seat belts. Front seat belts incorporate pre-tensioners which instantly draw the seat belt back at the moment of impact and force-limiters that release belt tension when a specific load is reached. A visual andtwo-stage audio seat belt warning system is fitted as standard. Together with the SRS airbags, the overall effect is to help maximise safety while reducing the likelihood of chest injuries.

Outstanding collision resistanceThe Toyota Yaris features a strong, rigid body structure, which is combined with Toyota’s Minimal Intrusion Cabin System (MICS) in which components are designed to help absorb and disperse energy to minimise cabin distortion.

Whiplash Injury LesseningFront seats have been specifically designed and positioned to help reduce injury to neck vertebrae in a rear-end collision.

Outstanding safetyThe Toyota Yaris has been awarded the maximum five-star ranking by Euro NCAP. With a total of 35 points, it is one of the safest cars in its class. * Standard on SR 1.8.


The T2 offers more than most cars of the segment. All T2 models feature remote central door locking, electric outer mirrors, front electric windows, a CD player audio system with four speakers, as well as a multi-display trip computer as standard. They also feature a specific wheel cap design and coloured bumpers.

Inside, there’s plenty of advanced technology all fitted as standard – Toyota Easy Flat system, a height-adjustable boot deckboard, atilt-adjustable steering wheel, and a walk-in system (on the three-door model). For maximum protection the new Yaris comes with ABS, EBD and Brake Assist as well as driver and passenger front airbags.

If you would like to upgrade the Yaris’s standard equipment, opt for the T3 with a specific wheel cap design and coloured mirrors and door handles. Inside, you’ll find a leather steering wheel with audio controls, manual air conditioning, leather and silver-look inserts on the gear shift knob and driver and passenger front seatback pockets. There’s also a whole range of advanced features including telescopic steering wheel adjustment and a six-speaker audio system with the capability to play MP3 and WMA CDs.

The road to a sportier experience starts herewith the new Yaris SR. It’s available with a1.3 litre VVT-i petrol engine and a 1.4 litre D-4D diesel engine. The all-newSR model features the same premium equipment as the Yaris T Spirit, plus a whole range of sophisticated details. These include turbine-style 15" alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, chrome exhaust finisher, front scuff plates and a brushed alloy gear knob.

Both engines use a nimble five-speed manual gearbox. If you prefer to sit back and enjoy the ride, opt for the Toyota MultiMode transmission, which is available as an option.

The new Yaris SR 1.8 is the most powerful Yaris – in every sense of the word. Added performance and agility are delivered by the all-new 1.8 litre Dual VVT-i engine whilst the styling is enhanced by a whole range of sophisticated and sporty features.

The exterior stands out with the obligatory SR badge, unique front and rear bumpers, side skirts and a rear roof spoiler. LED rear lights and chrome exhaust, as well as 17" alloy wheels are also part of the dynamic Yaris SR package.

Inside, you’ll notice chrome highlights for the air vents, sports pedals and the leather trimmed sports steering wheel and gear lever. The sports seats feature an exclusive fabric. The Yaris SR 1.8 also features its own design Optitron instrument panel with analogue display and amber background lighting. Toyota warranty

Comprehensive termsThe warranty covers any defect caused by a manufacturing or assembly fault. It is valid for three years of normal use or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first, with no mileage limitation for the first year. If the car is immobilised due to a breakdown (as a result of a defect covered under warranty), you will also be covered for the cost of towing your vehicle to the nearest authorised Toyota repairer.

Rust and paint defectsThe warranty also covers surface rust and paint defects appearing on any of the painted body panels as a result of a fault in material for a period of 3 years, regardless of mileage.

Corrosion coverThe warranty offers 12 years’ coverage, regardless of mileage, against perforation of the bodywork (from inside to outside) that develop due to corrosion caused by faults in material or workmanship.

Toyota genuine partsThe Yaris is designed to minimise the cost of accident repair. Energy absorbing elements are built into the bumpers, expensive to replace parts are located away from damage zones, and commonly damaged body parts are bolted rather than welded. As a result, the extent of damage is limited and damaged parts are easy to remove, replace or repair. Ultimately, this means very low part and labour charges.

Added securityThe Yaris’s security system withstands the insurance industry’s rigorous five-minute attack test and provides excellent protection. The engine immobiliser is approved by Europe’s major insurance companies.
